Urgent:

The Minnesota DNR will not raise Muskies in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and have asked the Minnesota Muskie Inc. Chapters to purchase 2,500 fingerling Muskies to stock into Mille Lacs Lake and seven metro area lakes that includes two of our favorite North Metro Lakes – Bald Eagle, White Bear Lakes and possibly Forest Lake as well. This opportunity to purchase these 2,500 Fingerling size muskies is time sensitive and will cost $15 per fish for a total cost of $37,500. 
 
The DNR plans to raise them in their ponds to be 15" to 17” yearlings and will then stock these fish into the metro lakes this fall. DNR studies have shown yearlings are 4 times more likely to survive than traditional fall fingerlings. Essentially, it is the equivalent to stocking 10,000 fingerlings.  
 
We have partnered with the Twin Cities Muskie’s Inc. Chapter and hope MI members and anglers from around the state will help donate to the cause. The competition for these fish is real, and we would like to purchase these fish for Minnesota before we are outbid by out-of-state DNR programs and angling organizations. We have allocated our entire Dedicated Muskie Stocking Fund balance and the Board has approved the use of the bulk of the NMMI Chapter Treasury for a total of $7,300 to this effort. We still have a long way to go and our Chapter would like to pay for one third of the fish. We need any assistance members and other friends of the Muskie fishery can provide. We have also planned a major Stocking Fund Raffle for June to raise thousands more.
 
Please note that I will personally match 25% of every dollar donated to our Stocking Fund up to a maximum aggregate of $500 on my part made directly through the North Metro Chapter.
