June 10, 2021
5:30 am - 1:30 pm
Bald Eagle Lake
General Information
**Tournament is subject to proper COVID-19 precautions and protocols as directed by state health officials.
This tournament has multiple goals:
- To determine the teams that will be offered the opportunity to come to the State Tournament. The state tournament is held on August 12, 2022, on Lake Vermilion.
David Schueck is the Tournament Director (612-770-0495).
- Your team should know on the day of the Sectional Tournament if you can attend the state tournament. Talke with your parents prior to June 10th and have an
answer ready should you qualify.
- To have all (novice and veteran) learn how to handle a muskie so that participants and fish are not harmed.
- To have a positive experience fishing with a partner.
- To learn about Muskies Inc and to become a member and partner in the Muskie fishing community.
2022 Sectional Check List
- Know if you can attend the state tournament on August 12, 2022.
- Have a working and charged cell phone that can take pictures. Chase Evertz phone number should be programmed into your phone (763-232-5302).
- Have your boat in working order, properly maintained, and licensed.
- Follow all MN DNR rules for fishing, including having a fishing license if 16+, life vests for all in the boat, and a throwable flotation device. Participants
will be required to wear their life vests while the big engine is being used.
- Have appropriate release tools: large muskie net, long-nosed pliers, hook cutters, and a measuring device for length (make sure to wet the board before taking
measurements).
- Have directions to the Bald Eagle boat ramp. You are strongly encouraged to pre-fish during June 5-10.
- Pack water, sunscreen, and rain gear. The tournament will continue in the rain, but high winds and/or lightning may lead to the postponement or suspension of
the tournament. If weather significantly limits the tournament, positions for the state tournament will be determined by a blind draw. This is determined by NMMI Section Chair Chase
Evertz.
- Rods, reels, and baits are your responsibility and no live bait can be used. Trolling is acceptable.
- If you are old enough that you need a fishing license (16 and older), you must have one for the tournament.
Basic Tournament Rules
- The first 20 teams to sign up will be given shirts! Everyone will get a lure and prizes. The 1st Place team will have their names engraved on the traveling trophy
that will be delivered to your school for display until next May.
- Fishing Hours: 5:30 am to 1:30 pm are the tournament hours. You do not have to start at 5:30 am.
- Check-In: Please check in with Chase Evertz when you arrive at Bald Eagle boat launch for release tool inspection and a prize bag. NEW THIS YEAR:
Participant boats must have a ribbon, given at check-in, tied around the trolling motor or somewhere visible during the event. This rule has been implemented to stay consistent with the 2022 State
Tournament rules.
- If you catch a muskie or northern, take a picture, measure the length, and text the picture to Chase Evertz, which will establish the time of your catch. If
there is a tie, the earlier catch will be the winner. This year's t-shirt must be visible in the photo and photos must be sent immediately after a clean release of the fish and will
not be accepted after 1:30 PM.
- Consult the tournament point system for details, but the angler with the most points wins. If no muskies are caught, the largest northern pike catches will determine
the winners.
- Boat drivers may only drive the boat and lend assistance in releasing the fish. Catching, landing, choice of spots, choice of bait, and choice of fishing techniques
are made by the participants and not the driver. The trolling motor is handled by participants.
Awards Ceremony
There will be an informal awards ceremony this year. Teams that catch a muskie will be asked to stay for State Tournament purposes. Please check out the North Metro Muskies
Inc. Facebook page for the final results.
- The first 20 teams to sign up will be given shirts! Everyone will get a lure and prizes. The 1st Place team will have their names engraved on the traveling trophy
