**Tournament is Subject to proper COVID-19 precautions as directed by health officials.
This tournament has multiple goals:
One: To determine the teams that will be offered the opportunity to come to the State Tournament. The state
tournament is held August 13, 2021 on Lake Vermilion. Vermilion Dam Lodge is the tournament headquarters.
●New this year for state tournament:
●An adult boat captain
●Your team should know on the day of the Sectional Tournament if you can attend the state
tournament. Talk with parents prior to June 11 and have an answer ready should you qualify.
Two: To have all (novice and veteran) learn how to handle a muskie so that participants and fish are not harmed.
Three: To have a positive experience fishing with a partner.
Four: To learn about Muskies Inc and to become a member and partner in the Muskie fishing community.
2021 Sectional Check List
1.Know if you can attend state
2.Have a working and charged cell phone that can take pictures. Chase Evertz phone number should be
programmed into your phone. 763-232-5302
3.Have your boat in working order, properly maintained, and licensed.
4.Follow all MNDNR rules for fishing including having life vests for all in the boat and a throwable. Participants will
be required to wear their life vests while the big engine is being used.
5.Have appropriate release tools: large muskie net, long nosed pliers, hook cutters, measuring device for length
6.Know how to get to Bald Eagle boat ramp. You are strongly encouraged to pre-fish during June 5-10
7.Sunscreen, raingear. Tournament will continue in the rain. High winds, lightning will postpone or suspend the
tournament. If weather significantly limits the tournament, positions for state will be determined by a blind
draw. This is determined by the section director Chase Evertz
8.Rods, reels, baits are your responsibility. No live bait can be used. Trolling is acceptable.
9.If you are old enough that you need a fishing license(16 and older), you have to have one for the tournament.
Hours: 5:30am to 1:30pm are the tournament hours. You do not have to start at 5:30am.
Check in with Chase Evertz when you arrive at Bald Eagle Boat Ramp
If you catch a muskie or northern, take a picture, measure length, text pic to Chase Evertz this will establish time of
catch. If there is a tie the earlier catch will be the winner.
New this year: A 2021 sticker, given to participants at check-in, must be in the photo. This is to be consistent with
the new state rule for 2021.
Tournament Point system will be attached to this email. Most points win.
If no muskies are caught, the largest northerns will determine winners. No point system.

Boat drivers may only drive the boat and lend assistance in releasing a fish. Catching, landing, choice of spots, choice of
bait, choice of fishing technique is made by the participants and not the driver. Trolling motor is handled by
participants.
New this year: Participant boats must have a ribbon, given at check-in, tied around the trolling motor or somewhere
visible during the event. This is also to be consistent with new 2021 state rules.
Participants must have their feet under the pavilion at Bald Eagle Regional Park at 1:30pm. If you are late your days
catch will be disallowed. That means you are effectively done fishing by 1:10pm to give you time to get in.
Attached is a Subway Sandwich form. You must submit your form so that I can arrange a sandwich for you. The due
date is Tuesday, May, 25. After this date you will not receive a sandwich. Water, cookies, chips will all be provided
for you. Be sure to ask your driver if they want a sandwich and submit an order for them. The tournament will
provide for all.
Everyone will be given shirts. You will wear these for pictures.
Everyone will get a lure and prizes.
1st place will have their names put on the traveling trophy and I will deliver it to your school for display until next May.
